Three gate keepers

The three moral values are Strong self esteem, self confidence, and a positive self 1) Self Confidence – What you expect from yourself It is your gate keeper to effective action. Think of self confidence as your reputation with yourself. People with strong self confidence expect to succeeding new activities and overcome unknown adversities. People with low self confidence feel anxious about unknown challenges. HOW ABOUT YOU? In fast changing world, you are constantly required to do things you have never done before. To strengthen your conscious feeling of self-confidence, answer these, What are my reliable strengths and abilities? What do I do well ? (List anything that you’ve been complemented on) 2) Self–esteem: How you feel about yourself It is your emotional opinion about yourself. It is the gatekeeper in control of how you feel about yourself.

Strong, healthy self esteem serves like a protective, thick emotional blanket that buffers you from feeling hurt by harmful criticism. In order to sustain your feelings of self-worth, it is essential to develop the inner ability to praise yourself for good things you’ve done when others do not. Self-esteem determines how much you learn after some-things goes wrong. If your self-esteem is weak or excessive, you are not able to admit to a failure or mistakes. People with weak self esteem may try to build themselves up in the eyes of people they talk to by tearing other people down Make a list of positive feelings you have for yourself. HONOR YOURSELF, EVEN IF OTHERS DON’T 3) Self-concept: Who you think you are. Is your self-concept based upon your job title, income level, physical attributes, age, educational level, price and location of your home, the car you drive, or important connections you have? If so, it means that your identity is rooted in external factor. This places you at risk of having a serious identity crisis if you lose any of these external anchors.

To identify and strengthen your self-concept write 2 lists Write “I am_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _” Ten or more in each 1) Based on social status, job title, education etc 2) Based on your inner attributes, values, talent, principles of living etc Your abilities increases by discovering your “SELF” As you strengthen your belief in yourself, your belief in other people also grows stronger.
